Respite Provider
Available Locations:
Albuquerque, Farmington,
and Gallup
Treatment Foster-Care Parents are men and women, 21
years of age or older who provide intensive treatment and support services in
their home on a full-time basis to children and adolescences who have severe
emotional and behavioral disorders often stemming from abuse and neglect.
The goal of a Foster-Care parent is to provide a warm, stable, nurturing
environment coupled with the therapeutic intervention needed to treat and
prepare a child for return to his or her biological or extended family, or for
transition to the least restrictive appropriate setting.
Treatment Foster-Care Respite Providers are men and
women 21 years of age or older who provide on an as-needed basis, relief for the
Foster Parents or Biological Parents by taking over their duties so that they
can have time off. Foster-Care Respite is ideal for those individuals who
are willing to give some time to troubled children that are desperately in need
of love, attention and positive role models.
Children and adolescents come to HDFS directly from
troubled families, institutions, hospitals, and other residential settings that
have been unable to to provide the structure, supervision or clinical
interventions needed. We offer an alternative to costly institutions, hospitals
and juvenile detainment.
Each Treatment Foster-Care Parent becomes part of a
multi-disciplinary treatment team, led by a coordinator. The coordinator
works with the foster parent(s), biological family, psychologists,
psychiatrists, pediatricians and other behavioral and medical specialists as
necessary to meet the child's individualized treatment plan.
